Summer Daze
I haven't written in my blog for more than a month now: so it's past time for an update. There is not too much news as far as my cancer goes. I was supposed to see my radiology oncologist two weeks ago for my follow-up. I have been bumped twice (through no fault of my own) from my appointments. I have rescheduled for this Thursday so I hope the third time's a charm.
As well as I did during the treatment, it has seemed harder post-treatment. Radiation often has late side effects well after treatment has ended and it seems I have several. In addition to discoloration, I have had rashes that come and go, some pretty nasty itchiness and soreness. All of the symptoms are intermittent; sometimes they are almost non-existent and other times, they flare up enough to be really annoying. The heat of the summer seems to aggravate it. I will, for the rest of my life, have to keep the treated area from direct sun exposure. Another symptom I have noticed is that side doesn't feel normal all the time. It is as if it's somewhat deadened or wooden feeling. While I have sensation and feeling all over, it's not quite normal.
All of this I would like to discuss with the doctor ... if I ever get to see him. Lol.
I continue to take a regiment of CBD oil and Copaiba as well as DDR Prime and am looking into some other supplements discussed on my breast cancer website. My health seems to be holding up and I feel good most days.
On other fronts, my 82-year-old mother passed away May 10. I think it was peaceful and she was not in pain. She was pretty out of it. Her death was from natural causes and the death certificate officially stated, "End stage vascular dementia with behavioral disturbances." That's a pretty detailed and long-drawn- out way to describe her death.
I just finished Kerrville and enjoyed it thoroughly. My C.A.L.M. and Kerrville family has provided such a base of support and comfort for me and I realize how lucky I am to have all these people in my life. Next month, I head for Europe for 2 weeks!
Continue to say prayers and positive thoughts for healing and no recurrence. I only have 4 1/2 years until my NED remission status.
